About

Foundation

I was raised in a South Korean household where work ethic and consistency were expected, not explained. Growing up in my family’s Korean restaurant, I learned service by doing it. I spent time serving tables, working in the kitchen, and observing how my parents built trust with guests through discipline and repetition.

In our home, the philosophy was simple: Work hard so you can Rest Well.

That environment shaped how I approach hospitality today. I view service as something that must be executed with intention, consistency, and respect for both the guest and the brand.

Direction

I began my collegiate career studying marketing, where I developed a foundation in consumer psychology, branding, and communication. While I valued the strategic side of business, I found that I was most engaged when I could directly influence the guest experience.

Transitioning into Hospitality Management allowed me to combine that strategic mindset with hands on execution. Since then, I have pursued roles across luxury properties, high performance service environments, and wine focused settings to better understand how guest experience and revenue performance work together.

Development in Hospitality, Sales, and Wine

My understanding of sales began in high school through selling shoes, where I learned that effective selling is built on timing, trust, and clear communication.

In hospitality, that foundation developed into a relationship driven approach. I view sales as an extension of service, where thoughtful recommendations enhance both the guest experience and overall performance.

Wine became a central focus after transitioning into Hospitality Management. I was given the opportunity to participate in an Epicurean Tour of Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the fall of 2024, where I gained firsthand exposure to vineyard operations, winemaking philosophy, and luxury hospitality within wine focused environments.

That experience led to further immersion, including time in Napa Valley sponsored by Trinchero Family Estates, where I expanded my understanding of production, brand positioning, and the role of wine within larger hospitality and distribution systems. I will continue that development through a California Epicurean Tour in the summer of 2025.

Alongside these experiences, I have worked within a 300 plus bottle wine program, learning how to translate technical knowledge into confident and approachable guidance for guests.

After failing my first sommelier exam, I took a more disciplined approach by immersing myself in wine focused environments and passed on my next attempt. That experience reinforced the importance of preparation, consistency, and proximity to the craft.

Today, wine is a central part of how I approach hospitality, relationship building, and revenue growth.

I approach both hospitality and sales with the same mindset. Trust must be established before value can be delivered.

In guest facing environments, I focus on understanding preferences, communicating clearly, and providing recommendations that align with both the guest experience and business objectives. Strong performance comes from consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt across different environments.

Being bilingual in Korean has also strengthened my ability to connect across cultures and navigate diverse guest interactions with professionalism and awareness.
